Laboratory Informatics Scientist
Applies a background in neuroscience and pharmaceutical science to laboratory informatics.
Your first step is a thirty-minute conversation with an expert.
Background
I have a background in neuroscience and over four years of lab bench research experience spanning molecular and behavioral neuroscience, bioinformatics, and pharmaceutical sciences. Previously, I conducted research at Georgetown University studying traumatic brain injury using animal models, combining wet-lab techniques with genomic analysis. I also worked as a research fellow and contractor with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the Office of Pharmaceutical Quality. Today, I apply my scientific background to laboratory informatics, bridging the gap between laboratory science and technology.
Bench work
What I enjoyed most about working at the bench was the combination of wet lab hands-on experimentation, troubleshooting, and data analysis. I also genuinely enjoyed finally seeing the data on my computer after spending days preparing and running experiments.
