Our software is in production for clients including University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care, the Maine Department of Transportation, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. The first step is a thirty-minute conversation with a laboratory informatics expert.
This site uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand which pages people read and where they encounter difficulty. Neither loads until you allow it, and we do not use either for advertising. Below, we explain what each collects, how you choose, how your notebook is kept, and what happens when you use a Talk with an expert link.
This page covers the website only. How our products handle your laboratory’s data is on Trust, validation and IT.
01Analytics
What we measure, and why
We use two measurement tools to understand which pages people read and where they encounter difficulty. The information helps us decide what to improve or explain next. We do not use, sell, or share this information for advertising.
Google Analytics counts visits: the page address, the browser and device type, how you arrived, a coarse location derived from the network, and the time of the visit. Event-level data is kept for the period set on our Analytics property. Google signals and advertising features are turned off. Google handles the counts under its own privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity records mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and how far a page is read, as session recordings and heat maps, with inputs, numbers and email addresses masked. Session recordings are kept for 30 days. Click and heat-map data is kept for 9 months. Microsoft runs Clarity under its privacy statement.
The site remains fully functional if either tool is blocked.
The Talk with an expert links open Microsoft Bookings. What you enter there is handled under Microsoft’s privacy statement, not ours. Each link carries a short src tag, and when you click one after allowing analytics, the tag is passed to both analytics tools and nothing more. The tag identifies the page, practice area, and topic associated with the link, and it adds no personal data. If the tag reaches the calendar’s own record, bookings can be counted from that record, not from analytics.
02Cookies
Cookies and your choice
Both tools use cookies to tell one visit from another. Wherever you are, neither tool loads, or sets a cookie, until you allow it. A notice at the foot of the page asks once, and the button below changes your answer at any time.
Your answer is kept in this browser, and it records only your choice.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies on this site. Microsoft Clarity sets cookies on this site and on Microsoft’s own domains.
If you decline, or have not answered yet, neither tool loads, so nothing is collected and no cookie is set.
You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out add-on, and out of Microsoft’s advertising use of its cookies at optout.aboutads.info. Clarity also respects your browser’s Global Privacy Control setting.
The site has no social widgets and no other third-party scripts. It serves its own typefaces, so reading a page contacts only this site, and the two tools if you have allowed them.
03Your notebook
What the notebook keeps
The notebook on this site keeps the blocks you add, the numbers you give the cost worksheet, and any note you write. It keeps them in your own browser, under a single storage key, so they are still there when you return. They stay on your device.
Nothing in the notebook is sent to us or to anyone else unless you email it. If you do, the email goes from your own email program, to the person you choose or to us, and the website never sees it. You can print the notebook or copy it as text, and both stay on your computer.
You can remove an item, or clear the whole notebook, at any time. Clearing this site’s data in your browser also removes it. If you are on a shared computer, clear it before you leave.
If you have allowed analytics, we count that something was added to a notebook, which kind of block it was, and which page it came from. We never receive what you wrote, the numbers you entered, or the content of your email.
